First more on the casting- a rising star in Korean Indie cinema, Sae-Byun Song 송새벽 has been cast to play an abusive stepfather to Sae-Ron Kim's Do-Hee. Doona is cast to play a woman police chief called Yung-Nam who tries to protect Do-Hee from the father's abuse. The story again is that Yung-Nam gets involved in a series of events after meeting Do-Hee that shakes the very foundation of her life.
Secondly on Dir. Joo-Ri Jung: She (yes it is a she!!!) graduated from the prestigious Korean National University of Arts. Her shorts, "A Man Under(below) the Influence" (영향아래 있는 남자) has received much encouraging critical reviews, and also has been awarded a "Sun-Jae" award from Pusan International Film Festival. This is Dir Jun's first major film.
Third piece of additional news is that the film will start shooting in SoonChun, Cholla Province, Korea from September 9th. It is said the movie is planned to be released in May, 2014. |
