Q 1: 드라마 출연이 2010년 ‘글로리아’가 마지막예요. 스크린을 찾지 않으면 당신의 연기를 볼 수 없어요. 어느 순간, 생각에 전환점을 맞은 건가요?
Q 1. Your last drama was "Gloria" in 2010. Since then we couldn't see your acting except on cinema screen. Have you reached a certain turning point in your thinking at some point?
A: 나름대로 영화와 드라마를 병행하면서 활동해왔는데 어느 순간부터 활동 비중이 영화로 옮겨 갔죠. 해외 활동도 늘었고요. 점점 “배두나는 요즘 뭐하지?”라고 묻는 이들이 많아졌죠. 드라마의 경우, 대중이 원하는 모습을 보여주는 것이 맞다고 생각해요. 먼저 시나리오를 찾아서 읽고 노크를 한 적이 없었고요. 연출 선생님이 “이건 배두나가 해야 된다”면 그 역할을 맡는 것이 옳다고 생각했고, 별 욕심 없이 즐겼어요. 하지만 영화는 달라요. 예전에는 진짜 까다롭게 작품을 골랐어요. 처럼 한 장면을 찍어도, 빛나는 역할이 좋았어요. 지금은 많이 변했어요. 이제는 영화 전반적인 걸 보게 되더라고요. 작품은 좋은데 내 캐릭터가 심심하더라도, 해보고 싶다는 생각이 들어요.
A: I have tried to be work on both TV dramas and movies, but after certain point, I started working more on movies. At the same time, I started working outside Korea more as well. Soon more people were asking, "What is Doona Bae doing nowadays?" [As an actor] I believe you need to give what the public wants when it comes to TV dramas. I never took the first step of looking for a script and knocking on the door. I believed that I should accept a role only when a director thought 'this role has to be done by Doona Bae', so I enjoyed myself [with whatever roles I played?] without getting greedy [for more roles?]. But it's a different story with doing movies. I used to be really picky about my movies. Even if I were to do just a single scene in a movie, I wanted to shine in it. But I have changed a lot [in that aspect] now. I now consider the whole movie. I want to be in a movie, if that movie is wonderful even if my character in it is going to be boring.
Q2: 그렇게 까다로운데도, 지난주 촬영을 끝낸 의 출연은 굉장히 빨리 결정했다고 들었어요. 보다 더.
Q2. I heard that-despite you being choosy about your movie roles-you made your decision to be in "Do-Hee-ya", which finished filming last week, in no time at all.
A: 시나리오를 읽을 때 그냥 빠져들었어요. 읽자마자 출연하겠다고 5분 만에 문자를 보냈죠. 처음 한두 줄을 읽을 때부터 글에 호감이 갔어요. 술술 잘 읽히고, 잔잔하면서도 확 파도가 몰아치고, 예쁜 영화인 듯하면서도 잔인하고, 저예산 영화지만 내 필모그래피에 넣으면 참 좋겠다는 욕심이 생겼죠.
A: I simply got into the scenario [of Do-Hee-ya] As soon as I was done reading, I sent a text that I would like to be in the movie within 5 minutes [after finishing it] I liked the script as soon as I read the first couple of lines It was easy reading, it was quiet and yet had sudden waves [of emotions?], seemed like a pretty movie but was also cruel; it was a low-budget movie but I very much wanted it to be a part of my filmography
Q 3: 내년 5월에 개봉하지만, 미리 어떤 내용인지 이야기해도 될까요?
Q3: I know it opens next May, but could we talk about the plot of the movie, "Do-Hee-Ya"?
A: 경찰대를 졸업한 여경 ‘영남’ 역할이에요. 젊은 여자 파출소장으로 서울에서 일하다가 불미스러운 일로 시골 마을 파출소에 1년간 내려가 있게 되죠. 거기서 도희를 만나요. 아동 학대를 당하는 것도 알게 되고. 경찰로서 책임감뿐만 아니라 모성으로 도희를 보호하면서 생기는 일을 그린 영화에요. |
