Director Koreeda praises Doona.. |

In his interview of 10/07/2013 with Hankook Ilbo about his new movie "Like Father, Like Son", Director Hirokazu Koreeda talked about Doona and how he would love to work with her again. My translation is as follows. I am including the Korean version under it.
I must say Director Koreeda is so kind to mention what good actor Doona is in most of his interviews with the Korean media. I do hope they get to work together again and gift us with another masterpiece of cinematic art.

When asked about which Korean actor he'd liked to work together in his film, Director Koreeda did not hesitate to give the answer that it is Doona Bae with whom he'd worked with in his movie "Air Doll." His reason was that Doona was "the consummate professional actor". He was amazed "when Doona was playing the role of Nozomi, the air doll, in the movie, [it was important that] she should never cry. So Doona cried beforehand in her waiting room so she did not make the mistake of crying while shooting." He continued, "Doona allowed only two NGs with her crying when she got too much into it emotionally. I then learned that Korean actors get themselves 100% ready for the filming."
'공기인형'으로 배두나 함께 일했던 고레에다 감독은 앞으로 출연시키고 싶은 한국 배우를 묻자 주저없이 "다시 배두나"라고 답했다. "프로 정신이 매우 투철한 배우"라는 이유에서였다. "'공기인형'에서 배두나가 인형을 연기해 절대 울면 안 되는데 그는 혹시 촬영 중 울까 봐 분장실에서 미리 우는 배우였다"고 감탄했다. "영화를 찍는 동안 배두나가 배역에 감정 이입이 돼 울어서 딱 두 번 NG가 났어요. 한국 영화인들은 100％ 준비해 촬영에 들어간다는 사실을 그의 연기를 보고 깨달았죠." |
